Overview
This MagCAD headset kit is a variation of our very popular MagCAD Roval Rapide Specialized Tarmac SL7 Headset Kit - Short, now designed specifically to fit the latest Roval Alpinist II cockpit to your Specialized Tarmac SL7 road bike.
This headset kit performs the same function as our MagCAD Roval Alpinist II Specialized Tarmac SL7 Headset Spacer, but this complete headset kit transitions to the shorter spacer section at the bottom of the headset stack rather than the top and so maintains a more parallel and clean installation for those running a taller headset assembly. The headset spacers in-between are shorter in length than the OEM Specialized SL7 spacers and therefore the design is specific to the MagCAD headset kit.
The lowest "bottom" spacer fits directly on top of the OEM Specialized bearing cover and is 5mm thick. The "top" Roval Alpinist II spacer matches the profile of the Roval Alpinist II Cockpit cleanly and precisely and is 4mm thick. Internal cable routing is supported in exactly the same way as the existing Specialized Tarmac SL7 setup.
Please note: This headset kit is designed for the newer Roval Alpinist II (2025 onwards) cockpit and not the discontinued Roval Alpinist SL (2020-2024) cockpit.
Application
All MagCAD headset parts are 3D printed in a durable Nylon to ensure they are robust to many years of use. As with any steering related components they should be installed by a competent mechanic and inspected regularly. Incorrect assembly or mis-use may result in damage to the headset components.
The complete headset kit has a total stack height of 34mm, including the "top" Roval Alpinist II spacer. This remains within the maximum recommended headset stack height by Specialized and covers most riders needs.
The minimum stack height, for a "slammed" setup, is 9mm from top of the split compression ring to underside of the Roval Alpinist II cockpit. See our CAD drawing for more information.
Additional 10mm and 5mm spacers can be purchased separately should they be required.
