Overview

This MagCAD GoPro Rearward Saddle Mount is a variation of our popular MagCAD GoPro Saddle Mount, redesigned to attach to the flared section of saddle rails, further back than the standard design would mount. For saddle and seat post assemblies where there is not enough clearance on the horizontal section of saddle rail, this mount offers a great alternative solution.

The horizontal section of saddle rails is very well standardised within the bike industry. Hence, you can fit almost every saddle to every seat post. However, the flared section of saddle rails further back is not standardised at all. With this MagCAD mount we have spent a lot of time developing a design that will fit as many saddles as possible. But it will not fit all saddles. A CAD drawing with critical width dimensions is provided in this listing to help determine the fit before placing an order. Once mounted, the GoPro lug provides an attachment point for a huge array of electronic devices including smart radar lights and action cameras.

Our MagCAD Garmin Varia GoPro Mount, sold separately, can be fitted to mount your Varia RTL515 radar light or our MagCAD Garmin Varia RCT715 GoPro Mount, sold separately, can be fitted to mount the Varia RCT715 camera/radar light.

Application

Before placing your order it is important to check the CAD drawing attached to this listing to check if this MagCAD mount is compatible with your saddle. There must be at least 42mm clearance between the narrowest part of your saddle rails and between 18 and 28 degrees of flare.

Supplied with this MagCAD mount is both a 7x7 and 7x9 back plate. The 7x7 back plate is appropriate for saddles with circular section rails, typically metal. The 7x9 back plate is appropriate for saddles with oval section rails, typically carbon. If you are unsure please get in contact.

Attach this MagCAD mount to your saddle with the 2x M3 cap screws, supplied. The M3 Nyloc nuts are a tight retained fit but care should be taken not to press too hard and push them out of the back plate. The M3 cap screws need only be pinch tight to approx. 1Nm.

We recommend tethering any electronic device you attach to your saddle using this MagCAD mount, just for extra security.
